How To Enjoy Yourself On A Date?

all you need is love

A great date is what you hope for when committing to spend intimate time with someone you may or may not really know.  Unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned.  Believe it or not, some dates are destined to go badly to prevent unnecessary pain and suffering.  A great date is usually the result of a great attitude.

In order for you to truly enjoy the pleasures of a great date, it is important to begin with no preconceived notions or unfair expectations of your date.  Remember that your date is getting to know you, just like you are getting to know your date.  A moment of misunderstanding could cost you a lifetime of love if you have the wrong attitude.  Whether right or wrong, your attitude is derived from life experiences, family, friends and various other influences.

When you expect your date to:

  • open the door or pull out your chair
  • know your wants and needs without asking (read your mind)
  • behave like your favorite television crush
  • remind you of your father or mother
  • do things your friends said they should
  • or have sex after money is spent,

and they don’t, your attitude begins to turn sour inside.  At this point, you are looking for reasons to not enjoy yourself because your expectations have not been met based on a false notion that every person should have attended the same Basics of Dating course.  Every person is a unique individual with thoughts and feelings that are stimulated in different ways.

Instead of getting upset when your date doesn’t bring flowers, open the door or have sex, appreciate the honesty in not pretending to be something that he or she really isn’t.  Too many people look for predetermined cues and actions instead of allowing their date to be the person that he or she really is.  What person doesn’t expect to be accepted for who they are?  Don’t you?  Why won’t you accept your date for who he or she is?

Acceptance goes a long way in shaping your attitude and opens the door for a great date.  Stop creating the perfect scenario in your mind and let things happen as God has decided.  You never know what size, shape or color your special person may come in.  But if you have the wrong attitude, your date will reflect it and neither of you will have a good time.  Be honest about who you are and enjoy the company of a uniquely designed individual that may do things a little differently.  Not only do opposites attract, they balance one another.

Enjoy your next date!
